Lott Croom's Uncle Abel Croom was Elizabeth Rasberry's Great-Grandfather (they both descended from Daniel Croom). Lott Croom's estate was located on the Neuse River (on the land purchased by Abel Croom), where he shipped his produce from his own wharves.  He brought from England the bricks with which to build what is said to have been the first brick house built in Lenoir County.  Lott built the original Sandy Bottom Church, which stood near his residence, but was later moved.
