THE BALLAD OF SUMNER AND JANE
(to be sung to the tune of ”Oh, My Darlin’ Clementine)
(This was sung at the fiftieth wedding anniversary celebration in honor of Jane & Sumner Williams.  The celebration was held at the summer camp they founded, Camp High Rocks, in Cedar Mountain, NC.
Jane and Sumner, it’s a wonder
Fifty years have come and gone.
We admire you
And we love you
And we hope you like our song.

Fond of mountains, fond of airplanes
In Mondamin’s woods she grew
In-de-pendent
Unimpressed by
The young men who came to woo.

Fond of mountains, fond of airplanes
To Mondamin Sumner came
He admired her
And conspired to
Win her over, marry Jane.

In a courtship in the airways
They sailed through the clouds above
Between Knoxville And Tuxedo
And were soon to fall in love.

They got married, raised a family
And had children, what a crew.
David, Gina, Pat and Betsy,
Nancy B and Boogy Loo.

Near a town called Cedar Mountain
’Tween the mountains and the sky
They built High Rocks,
Lovely High Rocks
With a lake and forest high.

Now we gather friends and family
It’s a time to celebrate
Fifty years of
Love and friendship
That we so appreciate.
